NAV 27 January 2025: 98.19 Per Share.  Gain 29.58% - SPX500 27.91%

What’s Moving and Shaking markets, Friday 31 January 2025

PERFORMANCE 29.58%(PTC) - 27.91%(SPX)

MARKET SENTIMENT RISK: ON

1. ASIA: Had a positive day generally but concerns over tariffs weigh on China equities

2.  USA: PCE was released at 08.30 EST (2.8%), while Trumps policies haven't had time to take effect, the world's watching closely looking for signs of prices coming down. Not yet

3. OKE; Portfolio/Hold completes its acquisition of Enlink, so if you owned Enlink you will now receive 0.1412 shares on OKE for every one Enlink share. Its good for shareholders

4. ABBV: Port/Hold (core), +4% in the pre after delivering revenue of 15.102, (14.83 expected) missed on EPS having an unfavourable impact from milestone expenses.

5. XOM: Up modestly in the pre after reporting earnings that beat profit expectations. It increased production in Basin and Guyana, would be up more if we had clarity on tariffs

6. PMH:Port/Hold, announced a $1.5B share buy back, 6.2% of its stock, its been trending higher since 10/01 having beat EPS estimates by 22c yesterday (3.28 expected)

7. CVX: Port/Hold (CORE), reports $2.06 ps, 5c lower than the market wanted, refining takes first loss in 4 years, revenue beats at $52.23B. Production increased 7% world wide and 19% in the US, loss attributed to a 1.1B impairment charge of severance and revalue hydro-carbo inventories. We have a $178 PT on this, and would be buyers here.

8. APPL, +4% in the pre, revenue was good, top and bottom beat expectations but its service revenue propping this up. Iphone sales missed big. This is being understated, service revenue will only grow through product adoption and competition is fierce.

9. DeepSeek/NVDA: Drama continues. The US is looking at whether DeepSeek aquired China banned chips, through Singapore. NVDA thinks the volume sold indicates NO

10. VISA:Port/Hold, beats by 9c on $2.75, we took some profits after hours to rebalance. If you would like to know BEFORE Paul makes a trade, please subscribe on our website

What’s Moving and Shaking markets, Thursday 30 January 2025

PERFORMANCE 29.58%(PTC) - 27.91%(SPX)

MARKET SENTIMENT RISK: ON

1. Last night saw an AAL plane collide with a Black Hawk, with both coming to rest in the Potomac River, we understand approximately 67 souls are feared dead but this is yet to be confirmed. Our deepest sympathies go out to all those affected by the sad disaster.

2.GDP (US): Slowed in the last quarter of 2024, reporting 2.3% growth, this may be the catalyst the FED needed to lower rates and no doubt Trump will use it to add pressure. I wouldn't read too much in to this in light of increased US production and possible tariffs

3. ECB: As expected lowers interest rates by 0.25% despite its inflation re-accelerating. Currencies traders should pay attention to the EUR/USD volatility. Too many headwinds!

4. FED: kept interest rates steady & J Powell did a stellar job, keeping the fake news in check who relentlessly and shamefully tried to bait him into saying something negative and negative about Trump. Trump outspoken as normal, criticising the FED on DJT

5. AI: OpenAI accuses DeepSeek of using its model to train its AI offering that caused shock waves across the markets.  We always go with what we know, not rumours. Can you put faith in the credibility and timing of DeepSeek. Moon landing anyone?

6. META: Port/Hold (Core), reported, beating expectations but giving soft guidance, +3% pre-market, we didn't like the guidance and took some profits after hours. Still long.

7. MSFT: Port/Hold (core) Beats EPS by 8c ($3.15 xpected). The CEO has good things to say about Copilot. You'll see lots of bears commenting over the next few days, people that have never run one of the worlds biggest companies. Everyone has an opinion

8. TESLA: Misses by 8c on 66c earnings, thats big, discounts cars, talks about robots and robot taxis (again), which of course sends UBER lower (P/H), don't investors realize that the market dominance of UBER is huge and Teslas taxis will be a drop in the ocean and would likely need to get on Ubers platform as this capital intensive project won't be able to service customers on its own. Tesla +5%, Uber -5%.

9. Uber:(P/H) has a $1.5B accelerated share repurchase. It won't be down long Remember, in the short term the market is a voting machine, but a weighing machine in the long. With a PE of less than 30 and 30% CAGR, this is cheap.

What’s Moving and Shaking markets, Wednesday 29 January 2025

PERFORMANCE 29.58%(PTC) - 27.91%(SPX)

MARKET SENTIMENT RISK: ON

1. ASIA: Reduced trading due to Lunar New Year holidays however they moved higher, Nikkei rose 0.5%, ASX 0.8%, on the back of a 2.2% jump in tech stocks.

2. USD. Remains firm, as traders start to build back reserves on concerns over the tariff, that have yet to be confirmed, Canada, Mexico and China, but who knows who is next

3. DeepSeek: sent many in to a panic, not us, we took the sell off to add to many of the effected companies from Semis to Power. I was suspicious about the timing, that it stopped registering new user & the facts released. As i wrote at the time, did you really think the USA would stop or slow their investment? Short dated puts anyone?

4. TRUMP: DJT, +15% on the news it is expanding in to financial services such as crypto and ETFs. Surely this cant be ethical, I will be watching this closely for any opportunities

5. ASML: Portfolio Holding, this is about 0.7% of our portfolio, we started buying after listening to the investor call after the last quarter sell off, it is +6% in the pre. The dutch semi giant increased bookings by 169%, with $7.1B in bookings, $3.99 expected.

6. TMUS; Port/Hold, +8% in the pre, beats top and bottom line in its latest report. If you would like to know before we make a trade please go to our website and subscribe.

7. GM: is flat after its 9% drop yesterday, we don't own this stock because of its low growth rate and now the market is worried about tariffs given GM's supply chain. Wells Fargo agrees, but raises $2 going to $37ps, 26% below yesterdays close.

8. BA: Port/Hold, Wells Fargo (again) raises to $103 for this beleaguered duopoly co, we have it at $195, we are close and I would be inclined to exit at this despite Kelly's plan to ramp up production of 38 this year, to triple by 2027, fool me once, fool me twice?

9. META $ MSFT; Both Port/Hold, both core, report after the bell today, lots of high expectations around Meta and not some much around MSFT. We have to wonder why Zuck has been selling his shares like they are toxic since December of last year.

10. SBUX: +5% in the pre, CEO Niccols from CMG, hasn't done much but the guy can do no wrong, my advice, lets try the cake and then I'll buy it, dont tell me how good it tastes

What’s Moving and Shaking markets, Tuesday 28 January 2025

PERFORMANCE 29.58%(PTC) - 27.91%(SPX)

MARKET SENTIMENT RISK: ON

1. USA: Wow, what a ride yesterday and in the middle of earnings season no less! NSDQ 100 down 3%, SP500 1.5%, ONLY THE DOW30 escaped, which is surprising as it recently added NVDA that lost $600B, the biggest single loss in US history. Did you buy? We did

2. ASIA: Kospi rose but the Nikkei225 fell again and mainland China followed. The YEN found strengh going to 154 but has softened a little today. Still firming after a rate rise?

3. USA: Durable goods report & consumer confidence. Despite yesterdays tech fall, over half of the SP500 rose. we are of course seeing a reversal in this in pre with Tech rising.

4. GM: Beats estimates and guides another year of strong earnings but is dow in the pre. We don't hold any car companies and if we did it would NOT be GM.

5. BA: Portfolio Holding, what a mess, 6 years of not making a profit. We made investors a respectable profit on this last year and we should have stayed away. We are still in the green and the market has reacted (yet) because it pre-released. CEO lays out recovery plan. What another one? You have been telling investors this for the past 3 years.

6 NEE: Port/Hold (core), +.53 in the pre building on yesterday +1.37%, reaffirms long term outlook of $3.45 - $3.7 for 2025, $3.63 - $4 for 2026 & $3.85 - $4.32 for 2027. we have an $87 price target on this which is 15% from yesterdays close. If you would like to know when we make a trade for the portfolio you can subscribe on the website.

7. CTRA: Port/Hold, completes purchase of assets in the Permian Basin for $3.9B, when they first announced this purchase CTRA took off like a rocket, we last bought it at $23.9 and it was trading at $29 before yesterdays 4% drop. Still room for this to run we think.

8. AAPL:moved in the opposite direction yesterday,+3%, confusing given its many recent downgrades. It reports on Thursday and is expected to disappoint. At $210 worth a look

9. GEV & CVX: Both Port/Hold, we started a new position in GEV yesterday. Today they announced a new partnership to develop scalable, reliable, power solutions to power data centers, they will build multi gigawatt-scale co-located power plants powered using gas turbines. If you want to ride the data centre, power wave, then we would recommend looking at this rather than the speculative ones such as NNE.

What’s Moving and Shaking markets, Monday 27 January 2025

PERFORMANCE 29.58%(PTC) - 27.91%(SPX)

MARKET SENTIMENT RISK: 0N

1. Asia:  China, stocks were mixed as manufacturing goes in to contraction territory

2. US. Hold on to yourself today, its going to be a rough session, China release details about DeepSeek AI (competes with Chat GBPT) they claim its much cheaper to make and uses old NVDA tech. Sam Altman says its easy when you copy. The race is on.

3. Currencies. The USD has found support from Trumps tariff potential, but it has been softening over the past week and may just be consolidation, dont read too much in to it

4.NVIDIA: Port/Hold (Core), -12% in the pre, we bought back the shares we sold at $144 for $118.4. The reason, Chinas DeepSeek, lower cost, using less advanced tech. Ask yourself 1 question, will a USA led by Trump, be humble & consider their life choices or will it double down. I see them going all in. Reports now say its been cyber attacked. Convenient?

5. DHI: Port/Hold, is up 2.5% after a downgrade from BAC, we started adding house builders to the portfolio in December, on the theory of low rates and growth in the USA

6. CCJ; Port/Hold, down 11.61% in the pre. Why, China builds AI cheaper, demand for data centres wanes, demand for nuclear power decreases, demand for Uranium decreases. Yes, the consequences of one headline. This is a screaming buy!

7. OIL; Has been moving lower on the "Drill baby Drill" policy, but owning the right Energy Companies could pay divs. If you would like to know who we think will benefit from this then please subscribe to get trade alerts in real time, before Paul makes a trade. All proceeds go to charity.

8. MSFT: Port/Hold (Core), already spends $80B per year on AI, but wont be effected by this as much as NVDA, Oracle and Softbank. If you don't own MSFT today could be your opportunity to pick up some of the shares on a pull back.

9. AT&T: UP 2.5% in the pre after beating analysts expectations by 4 cents a share.  We own Verizon in this space, you get a much bigger div 7% and earnings growth forecast.

10. VST: Port/Hold, selling off big today on the AI news, opportunities don't come often. Mr Market (Benjamin Grahams) is having a bad day. "Be greedy when others are fearful" Their are some terrible nuclear stocks getting ran up recently, this isn't one of them
