NAV 7 January 2025: 97.11 Per Share.  Gain 28.15% - SPX500 26.34%

What’s Moving and Shaking markets, Friday 14 February 2025

PERFORMANCE 28.15%(PTC) - 26.34%(SPX)

MARKET SENTIMENT RISK: MODERATELY ON

1. FUTURES: looking at quieter open to end the week, however, as we know things can change from a tweet from the President. The holidays are closed on Monday so trading should be light, long weekend

2. OIL/GOLD. Both stronger, on the USD falling, demand expectations and supply concerns. Dont forget PDT has said if the hostages aren't released by noon tomorrow "all hell will brake loose"

3. CURRENCIES: we are seeing some softening in the USD. This is good for us given our foreign holdings and will benefit the portfolio. GBP/USD & USD/BRL. Likely cause, tariff pause.

4.  GME: after the bell yesterday rises 11%, reports that it is CONSIDERING investing in crypto, It pulled back to 7.5%. Isn't the crypto run over? How will it monetise? Warning this can gobble up your money

5. META: Portfolio Holding (CORE) Zuck sells even more shares, I am becoming increasingly concerned by the volume of shares he is selling. If anyone knows the fair value of META it must be him.

6. PANW: Port/Hold, reported after the bell, I wasn't disappointed, the stock is  -4% & could present a entry point for you. PAN has underperformed the sector recently with once hated CRWD unstoppable

7. COIN: despite not being a fan of CRYPTO we started a position in COIN yesterday. Oppenheimer claims its taking share from HOOD and goes to $388 and outperform. More rating changes to come. Remember COIN &HOOD make money from trading, it goes up them make, it goes down they make.

8. AMAT: Port/Hold (CORE) lower on soft outlook being effected by China restrictions. $400m expected

What’s Moving and Shaking markets, Thursday 13 February 2025

PERFORMANCE 28.15%(PTC) - 26.34%(SPX)

MARKET SENTIMENT RISK: CAUTIOS BUY

1. FUTURES: are in the green, following the Presidents call yesterday with President Putin. Confirming that a dialogue's open for the war in Ukraine to stop. With the war dogs gone I think (hope) its possible

2.GOLD: close to all time highs as markets look for safe havens, President Trump has a deadline of Saturday for Hamas to release all hostages. we own Barraick Gold, pre +1%, following 6.5% yesterday, annouces a $100b buyback. It reported yesterday, impressed top & bottom $ cutting costs

3. UK: Economies grows slightly in 4th quarter by 0.1% as expected pushing the GBP/USD UP 0.4%

4. BARC: Staying with the UK, the banking giant beat on earnings £8.108B (£8.081 expected) announces buyback of £1B but gets ht in the pre, originally down 6% but has recovered to -3%.

5. MCO: Portfolio Holding, reports with an earnings beat of +10%, stock up 3.3% in the pre. I know many will think this company is boring, and may not understand what it does. But, know this, MCO is key to the working of the financial markets. As long as we have a stock market, we will have MCO.  If you would like to know before we make a trade or receive this moving and shaking report to your email, then please go to our website and subscribe. Alternatively if you would like us to manage some funds for you completely free of charge please go to Etoros copy trade feature. Cancel at any time.

6. WMT, (PH) reports and doesn't move the needle, we took some profits on this last week as we aren't convinced that the amazing growth it has experienced since the start of 2024 can continue. Still long.

7. GEV: (PH) the data-centre winner gets price bump from Baird, to $448, 21% above yesterdays close.

8. GOOGL: (PH CORE) signs deal with Poland to develop AI in energy & cyber security. Poland is GOOGL biggest engineering hub with over 2000 employees. It will improve Polands security & economy. +1%

9. LVS (PH) up 2% following yesterdays 1.5%, likely being pulled up with MGM thats up 12% after an earnings beat, LVS, which is heavy in China, is sensitive to Chinese reports, we have a $60 PT.

10. HOOD: Reports $1.01B, $944.6 expected. PT raises coming in fast. Lots of hype around HOOD due to its crypto exposure & the new administration. If you think Bitcoin is here to stay, it could be for you.

What’s Moving and Shaking markets, Wednesday 12 February 2025

PERFORMANCE 28.15%(PTC) - 26.34%(SPX)

MARKET SENTIMENT RISK: CAUTIOS BUY

1. ASIA: Equities in Hong Kong and Japan rose while China slipped. As I wrote yesterday we would be very cautious on China, no matter how cheap the stocks look, especially until the tariff situation calms

2. GOLD: Pulled back from its high & our gold and copper play Barrick Gold released earnings in line with expectations. Gold production is up 15% & copper 33% over Q3, cost down 5%. Setting up nicely

3. YIELDS/FED/CPI. J Powell advised congress yesterday that they are in a rush to reduce rates. Wise comments given the CPI comes in 0.5% (hot) today and is now over 3%, pushing the 10 year yield over 4.6%. IGF or VGIT ETF's could be a way to play the 10 year if it goes over 5%.

4. ALTM: Portfolio/Holding (trade) we exited our position in this last night at $5.78, it is due to be bought out at $5.85 by Rio Tinto, sometime in the 2nd quarter. While we could simply wait, the risk free rate along with opportunity cost tells us we should exit this position now.  If you would like to know before we make a trade or receive this moving and shaking report to your email, then please go to our website and subscribe. Alternatively if you would like us to manage some funds for you completely free of charge please go to Etoros copy trade feature. Cancel at any time.

5. QSR: is a new position in PTC, we started to build a position last month, the stock has risen since and reported today, beating earnings 0.02 PS ad revenue in line. Operational income up 18%, dividend raise.

6. UBER; Port/Hold, has been on a run recently after Bill Ackman took a stake for Pershing Sq Cap, however its pulling back in pre 3%, a combination of rising yields & being dragged down by Lyft, that missed earnings & is down 14%. We like UBER & would be buyers at $70 if not already committed at a lower price

7. SMCI, rises 10% after falling 9% yesterday, lowers guidance and still hasn't filled its annual report and has until 25 Feb to do so. You know that person who you lent money to and always has a reason not to pay you back. Would you lend to them again? This is the way you should think about buying stocks, who are you lending money to and are they going to pay it back? One excuse after another with this poorly run company

8. META: Port/Hold core. Is today finally the day Meta breaks its 17 day winning streak? Zuck has been selling shares like they are toxic. There is a mismatch here and I think a correction is coming. But when?

9. WMT: gets another price rise today from analysts, this has been going up in a straight line since we bought it. A clear benefactor from inflation, yet it doesn't seem to be affected by tariffs news, I am sceptical.

10. President Trump; Calling for the FED to lower interest rates, just as the CPI comes in hot. I think he might need to have a chat with Scott Bessent about how the rate controls inflation. But what do I know?

THOUGHT OF THE DAY

If you compulsively react, external situations determine how you are right now. If you consciously respond, your wellbeing is very much in your hands.

What’s Moving and Shaking markets, Tuesday 11 February 2025

PERFORMANCE 28.15%(PTC) - 26.34%(SPX)

MARKET SENTIMENT RISK:  WAIT

1. GOLD: Hits a new record of $2,942 an ounce, driven by central bank buying, safe haven demand & market volatility on concerns of inflation and President Trump's tariff concerns. We own Barrick GOLD

2. ASIA: Chinese stocks slipped despite retaliatory tariffs. China has lots of issues and so we would recommend staying away from the AI hype coming from there, for now at least, no matter how cheap.

3. FUTURES: We have a sea of red before the open with NSDQ leading the losses. We retain our "WAIT" market sentiment rating because of how choppy the market is. It will be like this for sometime but it may present opportunistic pull backs but we won't be chasing anything higher.

4. OpenAI: finds itself in the news again with Musk offering to buy it for $97.4B. This is significantly under the $340B it was valued at recently. This reinforces my belief that the US will continue to invest in AI and the winners remain NVDA, TSM and ARM.

5. FSLR: Portfolio Holding, up 1.5% in the pre, This company, despite being best in class, has been selling off ever since the inauguration on concerns over the Green opposition under the new president. As far as we know, it is not solar with which he has an issue. This company is now selling 12x forward earrings. MIzuho upgrades to $259, +59% from close, agreeing with our case for this company. It is very, very cheap.

Alternatively if you would like us to manage some funds for you completely free of charge please go to Etoros copy trade feature. Cancel at any time.

7. KO, reports & beats all round, and is taking market share and growing in the US. stark contrast to PEP

8. BP:  Yesterday Elliot confirmed it has taken a position and would try to get seats on the board, today BP reports a sharp drop in profits and pledges strategy reset. Needle doesn't move. One has to be suspicious of the timing announcement. I suspect without it, BP would be down big on this news.

What’s Moving and Shaking markets, Monday 10 February 2025

PERFORMANCE 28.15%(PTC) - 26.34%(SPX)

MARKET SENTIMENT RISK: WAIT

1. CURRENCIES: AUD & EUR dipped against the USD as President Trump announces 25% tariffs on metals. Retaliation measures expected. But we have seen tariffs be reversed. Not as likely with steel.

2. FUTURES: SPX AND DOW, both originally down on the tariff news bounced back with all 3 looking at a positive open. The NSDQ looks strong at 0.8% after its 1.23% pull back on Friday

3. GOLD: firms on the tariff news which is good news for our struggling gold play Barrick Gold up 3% in the pre, it remains in a solid uptrend so far this year. Up 10% year to date.

4. BP: UP 7% as Elliott Management take stake. Activist investors like Elliott can have success in improving an underperforming company through taking seats on its board. Elliot is well regarded.

5. X (US Steel). + 4% after President Trump is to announce 25% tariffs on metals. We own FCX for the fund, + 3% following Fridays 3%. X was in the news Friday as Trump was reviewing Nippon Steel deal.

6. META (Holding) this stock has risen for 15 days straight, todays news is that it is about to cut 5% of its staff. Zuck has been on a selling spree for months, surely he knows better than anyone the value?

7. SMCI, has been none stop in Feb, 7% Friday and 6% today. 12 months ago this was trading at $120, 3x below its current price. It has tried to brake out before, it would be good to see it close above $50.

8. NVDA; Port/Holding (core), moved to tactical outperform by Evercore. UP .6% in the pre, Reports on the 26th. DeepSeek seems like a distant memory now and so far we haven't heard any of the big boys cutting back on spending. TSM +1.14% in the pre also. These two along with MU will be the AI winners. If you would like to know before we make a trade or receive this moving and shaking report to your email, then please go to our website and subscribe.
